Huawei's market share has increased significantly in this market

Storage revenue growth in the third quarter of 2025 – primarily driven by sales of mid-range all-flash arrays.

IDC released its Q3 2025 Global External OEM Enterprise Storage Systems (ESS) Market Tracker, showing that Pure Storage, ranked fourth, outpaced any of the top five vendors in terms of revenue growth.

The market share of Huawei

As of Q3 2025, the ESS market grew by only 2.1% year-over-year, slightly below $8 billion, with the top five vendors accounting for 56.5% of the market share. Dell led the pack with a 22.7% market share and $1.8 billion in sales, a 49% year-over-year decline. Huawei ranked second with a 12% market share and $953 million in sales, a 9.5% year-over-year increase, exceeding the market average and performing exceptionally well in the Chinese market. NetApp grew by 2.8%, reaching $750.2 million in sales, ranking third. This was primarily driven by sales of its all-flash arrays.

After a detailed analysis of the data, IDC revealed an asymmetric pattern. First, let's look at media types:

Overall storage market growth rate from Q3 2024 to Q3 2025: 2.1%

All-flash arrays: 17.6%
Hybrid flash arrays: -9.8%
Disk drive arrays: -6.3%

Secondly, from a market segmentation perspective:

Entry-level products (systems with an average selling price below $25,000): -8.0%
Mid-range price segment (average selling price between $25,000 and $250,000): 8.1%
High-end market (average selling price > $250,000): -9.0%

Third, from a geographical perspective:

Japan: 14.4%
Canada: 12.6%
Europe, Middle East and Africa: 10.5%
China: 9.5%
APeJC: 8.6%
Latin America: -0.9%
United States: -9.9%

Juan Seminara, Research Director of IDC's Worldwide Enterprise Infrastructure Tracker, stated, "The increasing penetration of AI applications and models into enterprise data centers will increase the demand for more dedicated and efficient enterprise storage systems. IDC predicts that the demand for flash storage will continue to grow to support AI-related projects, including training and inference."
